PUSH-UP CAMERA SETUP & TROUBLESHOOTING
Set up your camera. See more of every rep.
A clear view of your movement gives the counter better information. Start with your shoulders, arms and hips visible throughout the repetition—not just while you are standing in front of the phone.

A useful view, before you start.
- 1
Support the phone securely.
Place it low and nearly level, with the camera aimed toward you. Keep it out of the space where you move. Front or rear camera can work; choose the one that gives you a clear view.
- 2
Check the bottom as well as the top.
Make sure your shoulders, elbows, wrists and hips remain visible while you lower and return. Move the phone farther away if joints leave the frame. Avoid placing an arm directly behind the other from the camera’s viewpoint.
- 3
Use even light and a clear background.
Face toward a light source rather than a bright window behind you. Keep another person out of the frame. A steady image helps the pose estimate stay consistent.
What the camera counter looks for.
Gored Bull estimates joint positions on your device. Once it has a usable view near the top, it follows a lowering movement and a return to the top. A low ding indicates detected depth; the brighter sound indicates a completed counted rep. A sound depends on browser audio permissions and volume.
You can begin moving instead of waiting still. Tracking joins when it recognizes a usable top position. A partial repetition before tracking is ready may not count. Reps can also be missed when the view is lost, the estimated range is too small, or the return is not recognized.
A missed count does not establish that your exercise form was wrong. Camera perspective, visibility and model estimates can all affect the result. Do not force a movement to satisfy the counter.
If something is not working
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| Camera never appears | Open in Safari or Chrome rather than an in-app browser. Allow camera access for goredbull.com, close another app using the camera, and try Start again. |
| Skeleton moves but reps do not count | Pose detection is running, but it may not recognize a full cycle. Check both the top and bottom framing and the on-screen tracking message. Try a different camera angle. |
| One rep missed in the middle | Look for an arm hidden behind your body or moving outside the frame. Pause to reposition the phone. Keep your natural comfortable motion. |
| Camera disappears after switching apps | The app stops capture when interrupted. Return and restart when prompted. Your camera display preference is remembered, but browser permissions remain under your control. |
| Model is still loading | The first workout downloads the camera model and runtime. Use a stable connection; cached assets can help later visits. Speed depends on the device and network. |
Report a counting problem from the app.
Verified community users can use Report a bug in Settings. Describe what happened, the number you observed, and whether the phone was in front, diagonal or at the side. Available numeric workout evidence can be tied to the report for investigation.
Camera images and audio are not uploaded. Evidence retention is limited and delivery can fail, so a report cannot guarantee that every missed rep can be reconstructed. Read the privacy and retention details.
